Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) members enjoy 10% APC discount at One Ecosystem

08 October 2025

In 2025, manuscripts accepted for publication at the One Ecosystem journal will be eligible for a 10% discount on the article publication charge (APC) as long as the first or the corresponding author is an active member of the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP).

To use the discount, authors will need to enter a discount code in the submission form at the journal. The discount code can be found on a designated page on the ESP website accessible to logged-in members.

The preferential conditions for ESP members at One Ecosystem are provided by the journal’s publisher: Pensoft, and were first announced at this year’s 11th ESP World Partnership conference during a session dedicated to the journal (see highlights from the conference).

There, One Ecosystem’s Editor-in-Chief and co-Chair of ESP Benjamin Burkhard together with subject editor Paulo Pereira and Pensoft’s Iva Boyadzhieva, talked about how the unique features of One Ecosystem support collaboration, transparency, reusability and interdisciplinarity in ecological research. Amongst these features are a wide range of unique and field-specific publication types (e.g. Ecosystem Inventory; Ecosystem Services Mapping; Ecosystem Service Models) and the highly automated, collaborative data-centric ARPHA Authoring Tool integrated within the submission and editorial workflow at the journal.

One Ecosystem — the Ecology and Sustainability Data Journal, was launched in 2016 by the open-access scientific publisher and technology provider Pensoft in collaboration with ESP and the European Commission-funded project ESMERALDA (short for Enhancing ecosystem services mapping for policy and decision-making). Today, the journal keeps its ties to the Partnership and ESMERALDA’s successor in the name of the Horizon Europe project SELINA (an acronym for Science for Evidence-based and Sustainable Decisions about Natural Capital). You can find more in the opening editorial.
