Third place goes for Gabriela Mallea-Rebolledo of the University of Chile (co-authors Victor H. Marín Briano, Luisa E. Delgado Isasi) for her poster “Valoración Social y Ecológia de la Biodiversidad de Aves y Mamíferos Marinos en dos Localidades de la zona costera Norte de Chile.”
Second place is awarded to Ana Catalina Copier Guerrero, also from the University of Chile, who, together with co-authors Luisa Delgado, Víctor H. Marín, Rodrigo Pardo, Gabriela Olivares, Paula Soto, and Camila Viveros, presented the poster "Sobre la falta de manejo integrado de la cuenca del río Maipo: resultados de un modelo DPSIR."
The first-place award goes to Magaly Aldave of Centro Transdisciplinario de Estudios FES-Sistémicos, who, along with Elizabeth Cárdenas-Quispe, presented "La voz de los niños en la conservación del humedal urbano y Sitio Ramsar Pantanos de Villa en Lima Metropolitana, Perú."
The winning authors were selected after a vote among attendees. All three winners will receive a full waiver for a publication in the ecology and sustainability data journal One Ecosystem.
The journal’s publisher, Pensoft, already has a tradition of giving out awards at ESP events.
The 4th International ESP Latin America and Caribbean Conference took place in Chile on 6-10 November 2023 under the theme “Sharing knowledge about ecosystem services and natural capital to build a sustainable future.”
