Society for Ecological Restoration calls for urgent action to reconnect people and nature

The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) issued a Call to Action at the 10th World Conference on Ecological Restoration, emphasising the urgent need to scale up effective, standards-based restoration worldwide as a mechanism to re-establish a healthy, balanced connection between people and nature.
In collaboration with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Advisory Board and more than 1,000 SER2023 delegates, SER called for action in supporting indigenous peoples, encouraging governments and communities to prioritise ecological restoration, and urging the global business community to give back more than they take. They aim to provoke action that reconnects people and nature and delivers restoration on a global scale to ensure a healthy, livable planet for current and future generations.
According to the SER, the need for ecological restoration has never been more evident or imperative, as evidenced by recent catastrophic droughts, floods, and fires.
